The short version

This is a read-only reference site. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no comments and no way to send us a message through the pages, so there is very little for us to collect, and we do not sell what little we have.

What the calculator does with your numbers

The gold value calculator runs in your browser. The karat, weight and quantity you type are used on your device to produce a result and are never sent to our servers or written to a log.

Links to Augusta Precious Metals

Buttons that say BUY GOLD NOW lead to Augusta Precious Metals. Each carries a tracking code (sub_id=goldvaluechart, or goldvaluechartpopup from the exit popup) so Augusta can tell that you arrived from this site and we can be credited. Following the link costs you nothing extra. After you land on Augusta's website, its privacy policy governs what it collects. How we are paid is explained in our full disclosure.

Typefaces

Inter and Playfair Display are served from this site's own files, so reading a page does not ask any font company for anything.

Where the site is hosted

Vercel hosts the pages and, like most hosts, keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, the page requested, browser type) for security and operations. Vercel's own policy covers those logs.

Live price refresh

Prices on each page are written in when the site is rebuilt from the sources listed on the about page. While a page stays open, your browser may also ask gold-api.com for a fresh spot quote about once a minute; that request carries only the technical details any web request does.

The exit popup

The popup is shown at most once per visit. To remember that, your browser keeps a flag for the current tab only, and it disappears when the tab closes.

Analytics and cookies

If we add privacy-friendly analytics to see which pages get read, we will describe it here. Where a law requires your consent for a cookie, we will ask before setting it.

Your choices

Residents of California and of the EU or UK have legal rights over personal data held about them. Because this site keeps no accounts and no messages, there is almost nothing to access, correct or delete.

Children

The site is written for adults and is not aimed at anyone under 13.
